Burst Pipe Repair & Replacement
Nothing screams household EMERGENCY!! like a burst water pipe. It is your worst nightmare, instantly and profoundly damaging your greatest asset—and depleting your savings account.
If you are suddenly awash in water, turn off the water supply to your burst pipe and call Atlas Home Services.
Signs of a Burst Pipe
The most obvious sign of a burst pipe is a sudden gush of water from an unseen source. Or you may see a sudden bulge or moist area in a wall or ceiling. But other, subtler signs can also indicate a burst pipe: loss of water pressure, or unusual noises in your water pipes, or even electrical problems.
Why Pipes Burst
The water in your pipes is highly pressurized. When water freezes, it expands, putting extra stress on pipe materials, joints and seals. Winter temperatures can seriously compromise unprotected or damaged pipes. But normal wear and tear on a property’s water pipes can lead to burst pipes, too.
Typically, pipe failure is the result of:
- Inadequate or lack of insulation around the affected pipes.
- Defective pipe materials.
- Damaged pipes.
- Age of the system.
Water is Everywhere. What Happens Next?
When you call Atlas Home Services, a customer service representative will walk you through the steps you need to take to prevent further damage before our plumber arrives, including how to shut off the water source, if you haven’t already done that. (Be sure to avoid exposure to any affected electrical wires.)
Your plumber will locate the damaged pipe and, if the problem is with a joint or seal, make repairs immediately. If the problem is with an exterior, above-ground pipe, the service technician will also ensure that the pipe is properly insulated going forward.
In some cases, the problem is with the line leading from the public water lines. Your plumber has the tools to pinpoint that break.
Your Atlas plumbing expert will explain your options and can usually complete burst pipe repair or replacement right away.
